Vintage barn find project, 1966 triumph tiger 500 this triumph tiger motorcycle rolls well and likely needs very little restoration to be road ready. It was found in a garage along with other motorcycles at an estate. It was be sold with a bill of sale, in lieu of a title. We were informed that the bike started as recently as a year ago but has been unused since 2017. The bike will need to be restored and appears menacing and ready to rekindle the 1960s fun as a café bike or scrambler type. By the way, relisted because user: fhfyw030jp said he mistakenly hit the bid button. So, i mistakenly added him to the deadbeat hall of fame. Pick up only in south lake tahoe. That money will be used to pay back paypal, ebay, and the rest and for my time explaining why the item didn't sell last time, what happened, answering dozens of emails and messages from people who dont read this ad.. In the rare situation, where i am going to the san francisco/oakland/sacramento bay area,i could bring but it would be an arrangement made before purchasing. In the rarer situation when i go to the santa barbara area, i could bring this, but it would be an arrangement made before purchasing. Again, this is not my preferred arrangement and local pickup is greatly appreciated. Though the triumph 650 bonneville was triumph’s best seller in the 1960s, the 500cc t100 and its variants were far more important in motorcycle racing competition. Until 1969, bikes with overhead valves were restricted to 500cc in ama-endorsed competition events, including the prestigious daytona 200 mile race, which between 1955 and 1965 had pretty much become a harley benefit race. But triumph engineer doug hele’s dogged development work on the t100’s performance and handling earned back-to-back wins at daytona in 1966 and 1967 with buddy elmore and gary nixon riding.

The rear of the frame has been altered behind the suspension to accommodate a sissy bar. I believe the fix/repair for this alteration is included in the photos and with the bike (along with the sissy-bar.) The tank is not stock and made of fiberglass; and is not functional as someone mistakenly put ethanol in it according to the previous owner. Stock soft-tail suspension is not impacted

he engine moves but I think the primary chain may be rusty. f you are looking at this then you know how really rare it is to find a Competition Special in so near original condition.. he tank is beautiful original with no rust through, it does have inside surface rust and will need cleaning

The frame was re-nickeled, all chromed parts rechromed, hardware cad plated, rims hammerite painted, seat recovered, and wheels relaced with SS spokes and nipples. I rewired the bike and added lights and horn to make it street legal

The frame and cycle parts are in good condition, with good patina. The tank, fenders and side panel could do with being painted. The suspension feels taut and it handles well. Fresh from a top-end engine rebuild, the bike has phenomenal power, is a piece of cake to start, always first or second kick, and it idles perfectly
