Regretfully listing my solid, california rust-free 1995 landrover range rover classic, a rare, original lwb ( long wheelbase) vehicle. This rangerover is the most sought-after classic year model, with the desirable one-year-only revised interior. Only year made with the rare soft dash. Unfortunately, i am looking at an upcoming deployment yet again, and i do not wish to just leave this classic sitting for a year. So i am looking for a land rover enthusiast to take ownership of this vehicle. It's not really much about the money, as much as to find a fellow land rover aficionado that will truly enjoy tinkering with this lwb classic. Solid, completely rust-free two-owner california land rover, residing here most of its life since being purchased from land rover of little rock, ar in 1995 as a european import ( not a nas range rover). It was purchased by a gentleman in carmel and relocated to his estate fifteen years ago. It has resided up here in the northern ca bay area since. This classic is completely original, exactly as it was originally built, right down to the super-rare one-year-only factory revised interior with the desirable soft dash. Approximately 167k original miles ( it was a european vehicle imported into the u. S, thus it still reads in kms), low for a land rover. It starts immediately, idles and drives flawlessly, quietly and smoothly on both town and on the highway, with no leaks or smells. There is no rust nor corrosion on this vehicle anywhere as it would be expected from a california-lived range rover ( hard-pressed condition to find in any land rover beyond the sierra mountains). Beware of rust buckets coming from the east coast~! ( it's beyond me why anyone would want to buy an east coast car with potential hidden rust ). Clean factory 16" cyclone alloy wheels, along with a really-nice set of radial tires mounted on them ( with approximately 95% tread remaining). Stock 4. 2l engine ( only available for 3 years and only in the lwb) runs excellent. As it is well documented in all land rover circles, the 4. 2 motor was a vast improvement over the earlier 3. 9 engines as it was more robust and had more torque as a result of engine redesigning to increase displacement to a more efficient, reliable motor. No overheating issues, ticking nor noises to contend with. Automatic transmission shifts well into all gears; it was replaced with a rebuilt unit five years ago. Transfer case and differentials engage smoothly and precisely, without noises, crunching or sloppiness. Finish is still in its original roman bronze factory paint color, with no hood or roofline fading nor oxidation of the clearcoat ( common ailment on all range rovers). Still shines quite nicely. This original range rover lwb classic is being sold unrestored and untouched, except for necessary maintenance and service which has already been performed, and the minimal cosmetics touches which have also been addressed. Its original conolly tan leather upholstery is in very good condition and has held up very well. There are no cracks or tears on any of the leather bolsters in the seats. No rips, tears or seam splits. Clean headliner with new dome lights. Overall, a very clean original interior, door panels and factory original carpeting. The photos show the lwb accurately. Non smoker vehicle, ever. A very solid, rust-free unrestored classic, with better-than-average miles and a good 4. 2l engine. It runs very well with a strong, solid powertrain. Drives very nicely on the freeway. Clean chassis, with no tweaks, no rust and a nice interior. It will make an excellent traveler, camping vehicle or just a fun land rover to drive around as it is. This classic is turn-key. I've been around land rovers for over 30 years, and have owned various models and vintages. Unlike the vast majority of sellers who simply sell what they do not know ( let alone car dealers!), i own a land rover ( actually, i own seven: a swb, a di, a 2010 sport, a 2004 hse and two discovery iis) and i am fairly familiar with all their quirks. It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream and looks absolutely stunning in beluga black over tan sorrell leather! Let's dive right in! Background:let me begin with a little background. This gorgeous rover was produced for the 1995 model year as a send off celebration to the timeless range rover classic. Featuring it's one year only interior, it is the rover be had. Only 2,494 of both the short wheel base (swb) and the long wheel base (lwb) were imported to the united states and the swb unsold the lwb in part to cost. Which makes this lwb particularly rare. When built in mid 1994, this rover was built from the factory fully loaded. Power windows, power locks, power seats, connelly leather, generous rear space, dual zone climate control, loads of real wood adorning the interior, and on and on. One upping its smaller swb brother as well was the lwb only 4. 2l v8, in place of the smaller, less powerful swb 3. 9l v8. This 4. 2l packs more punch than the 3. 9l and does more than simply add some power. It adds an element of increased ease. Less throttle to pull away at lights, less effort to merge on a highway. This was rover at its best: comfortable, luxurious and capable while ready for any adventure on or off-road! Rover knocked it out of the box with this last year beauty, truly. This black colored beauty has been thoughtfully serviced and refinished. Loads of service and new parts throughout! The 20 year leather was completely removed and redone in 100% factory correct pattern in high quality leather. The wood was removed, stripped and refinished. And on and on and on. This truck has received piles of love, restoration, service and attention and is ready to find a new home. And this is a california truck its entire life, so it is ca clean. Let's continue to the service! The condition and service:this truck has been enthusiastically and professionally maintained, serviced and is a high standard for rover service! Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:this engine had average miles for the year with 126,000 miles appear on the odometer. It showed no signs of distress, head gasket issues, overheating, knocking or oil pressure issues. But as part of a effort to have her last for many more years, the engine has had a wonderful refresh. There has been a ton of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep the engine in near brand new condition. The motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! And a happy rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles. And this happy rover has received loads of preventative maintenance to make sure of that. No check engine lights. -engineas part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received new head gaskets and head bolts in its prior ownership about 2 years ago. The engine also received valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets and seals, upper and lower exhaust manifold gaskets and upper intake gaskets, rear main seal, among a few other minor seals. These were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. Take a nice look at the engine bay, clean throughout! The detail work goes on and on. The truck runs cool as can be and has never overheated.-cooling systemradiator flows fantastic. Also to keep this beauty's water flowing it received a new water pump when head gaskets were done! This rover stays cool beyond cool! The temp needle never moves past 9 o'clock even with the ac on and in traffic. Going up the very steep grapevine in the scorching heat - no problem!-ignition system and starting systembrand new distributor cap and rotor. Brand new coppers plugs (the right plugs) and bosch spark plug wires. The distributor had the air gap adjusted and timing is spot on.-batterycranks hard and fast everytime! -beltnewer serpentine belt!-air filterk&n air filter! -transmissionthe trans was just given brand new filter and fluid and shifts great! Brand new trans lines! -transfer case:brand new transfer case fluid oil-differentials and drivelinebrand new gear oil in the diffs! Every grease fitting has been greased! Lets move to the chassis, suspension and brakes:-undercarriageca truck with ca clean underside! Great solid floors and frame. No rot, no rust, no trail scars. Some typical surface oxidation on bolt heads and such. -brakesnew front and rear brakes pads. -springs and shocksrover classics left the factory with electronic air suspension and while a nice feature, it can be expensive to upkeep and often those who venture out for camping or otherwise prefer the durability and reliability of coil springs. This rover is one of the lucky ones which has been converted to bilstein shocks and coil springs! No more eas nail biting moments or worries. -steeringbrand new power steering lines! -4wd system4wd low and high both work great!-mudflapsoem mudflaps present - most are ripped off! Let's continue to the exterior:-paintthe paint is gorgeous! It is a 8 out of 10. The deep black paint is glossy and has a wonderful luster! No roof fade or chipping! No hood fade or chipping! The truck looks much better than most 50k mile cars let alone a rugged truck, let alone a 22 year old truck! The body is in nice shape with a some minor inclusions: a few small dings, a few small chips, etc. Remember this is a near 22 year old truck, there may be some very minor scratches, wear not discussed in detail etc, but they are well below any expectation level for rover or cars of this year. Door jambs show zero rust, tailgate area shows zero rust, firewall shows zero rust, doors show zero rust. -tiresbrand new tires with 90% tread!-bumpers, valances and plasticsthe bumpers are in wonderful shape and free of the typical missing or broken bumperettes that were for 1995 only! They are not made from the factory anymore and impossible to find this clean! There is a minor dent in the rear bumper. End caps are in wonderful shape and free of major sun fade typically seen. -trailer hitchthe rover has a factory trailer hitch and is wired and ready to tow! Onto the cabin:-seatstake a moment, to go look at the gorgeous tan sorrell leather seats below. The old leather after 20+ years needed some love, so front lower seating panel were disassembled, measured and each new panel cut from the old to make the exact oem pattern and used the oem grain! The material is so soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this truck. Even when i get in the truck, i kind of raise myself up a little with the steering wheel as so that i sit down into the seat instead of sliding across it. I would hate to disturb how pretty they are! -woodbrand new wood console and shift knob. Stunning center console wood and gorgeous original transfer case, shifter and door wood showing only minor flaws at best.-door panelscheck out the door panels! No broken speaker grills! This is a true sign of rover care when they are whole. It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. Check the carpet on the passenger side as it comes up the transmission tunnel - no stains from a leaking heater core! There are couple small flaws, some little bits of dirt in tight corners of the sills etc, but overall shape and condition negate things in which are hard to see anyway. Floor mats have some minor stains.-dashboardgorgeous shape dash with very little wear! Shiny surfaces with no cracks in the leatherette. The cruise control does not work like 97% of rover classics, disco and p38, but it has not been diagnosed either and could be a simple fix. -power seatsbrand new seat heaters! The heated seats are a known weak spot in the rover world. Replacement of the oem elements have only proven to lead to failures very quickly again. Fear not with this quality aftermarket heaters that have been wired into the factory heat switches. Press the button and after a few moments - warm buns! All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a range rover classic! This is a very expensive rebuild and a major annoyance on rovers to deal with. Sleep well with this new rebuild and battery -power windowsall windows work smooth and quickly! Another rare find! -power locksfully functioning door locks!-radiothe oem radio works great and sounds good!-ac/heatac is arctic cold and heat is earth core hot! -power mirrorspower mirrors work perfectly!-steering wheelthe leather is very nice, no tears or issues or major issues, very minor wear only!
