The date of construction is may 1980. This was a texas truck formerly owned by a chartermember of lone star land cruisers and the former owner of the zebranator (1975 fj-40). Here is a description of its many features. Body:i purchased this beauty in 2008. Since that time, i have continued to improve on the previous owner’s work. Shewas garaged for long periods while i was stationed overseas. I added:~ new radiator, battery~ bf goodrich mud terrain 33x10. 50 – 15s~ excellent and comfortable bucket seats. From the previous owner in 2008: this was a frame on restoration ~ the first step was to remove all fixtures in the interior, repair and replace anydefective metal, rust with new metal. New parts when available from toyota were used as well as body parts fromcool cruisers of texas. The hood was brand new. The quarter panels were new, the fenders were new, the passengerfloor pan was new, the front bib and clip were also new.~ the interior was painted with por-15 (paint over rust) to prevent and protect the body from future corrosion. Next they covered the interior with rhino lining to give the interior more protection as well as that cool lookthat rhino lining gives a trail truck.~ they then painted the underbody of the truck with por-15. ~ the entire exterior was sanded down and repainted red~ all badges on the truck were replaced with oem badges; all lenses on the lights were replaced; hella h-4 halogenheadlights were added as well as hella halogen fog lights. Both the front and rear jump seats were replaced(specter off road)~ the roll cage, the heater, and the rear jump seats were sand blasted and powder coated.~ a “hell for stout” front bumper from cool cruisers of texas replaced the front bumper. It is ready for awinch if desired. There are two tow rings on the bumper~ a rear trailer hitch for towing is on the rear bumper. ~ oem rubber door seals (weather-stripping) for the roof, the front doors, and ambulance doors ~ off road style oem side mirrors were added plus i have the original side mirrors.~ one pakistani rear half tail gate and hardware. Engine and transmission:~this cruiser has a fire breathing 2-f engine (that was rebuilt 17,000 miles ago). The compression is perfect; thismotor is stout.~ man a fre headers ~ weber 38-38 carb with special weber air cleaner ~ a rare h-55f 5 speed transmission with asplit transfer case. This transmission with a lower first gear and an overdrive gear was never sold in the usa. Itwas purchased it from man a fre who rebuilt it and imported it from australia.~ toyota power steering, with pump. Bracket made by ccot. ~ a 4. 11 rear end~ lock rite rear locker~ hei distributor with a toyota gear. The hei really boosted the horsepower; and performance of the motor versusthe stock toyota distributor. Wereplaced all plug wires and plugs and the truck was recently tuned for peak performance.~ oem master cylinder, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder ~ new oem fuel pump and fuel filte. Toyota fj40 by fj legends,this 1980 fj40 was fully repainted with its original olive green (653) and conserves itsfactory specifications with many upgrades including front disc brakes and 31” new dunlop tires to enhance itslook and driving comfort. This fj40 has its original 4. 2l type 2f inline 6 cylinder engine and 4-speed transmission. The chassis andcomponents were sand blasted and powder coated, matching numbers engine, transmissions, and gear box wereextensively inspected and serviced as needed, has a new carburetor, the front disk/rear drum were rebuilt, all theelectrical components were inspected and replaced with new wiring and connections where needed. Also has a new verygood looking soft top installed with its oem soft top bows (very hard to find) and ambulance doors in the rear, theinterior was re-upholstery maintaining its original specs, floor mattress, instruments and switches are restoredand new. Every emblem, headlight and signal light was replaced with a new. Its new owner can enjoy a very unique, good looking and excellent restored example that can be a perfect weekenddriver.

This fjwas professionally repaired using new sheet metal components (where needed) from cool cruisers of texas. Professionally installed and custom painted, interior has bed liner in black and new custom mastercraft baja seatsand a tuffy center console. Everything on this build was completed in the last 2 ½ years, many components werereplaced with new parts or rebuilt to perform like new. The truck has been driven very rarely since completion. The body is super straight. The paint color is a 1978 porschegreen. The panels of this fj were painted on the outside as well as the inside…giving a complete color change. Both fenders & aprons, the hood, rear ambulance doors, etc. Were removed from the tub when painted, as well as allglass was removed. Re-assembly included stainless steel hardware. Mechanical upgrades include new battery, manyengine gaskets, belts, hoses, new starter, new alternator, new braking system, re-built factory power steeringsystem, new ps pump, complete new cooling system (including water pump, hoses, & heavy duty diesel radiator) thefuel system (including removing tank to inspect and clean, new fuel pump & lines where applicable, re-built factoryoriginal carburetor, etc). Drivetrain upgrades include warn locking hubs, 4” suspension lift with all new leafsprings & biltein 5100 shock absorbers. The fj40 has been re-geared to 4:88 with new ring and pinions and masterinstall kits, both axles have been completely gone through including front knuckle ball re-builds. The truck alsofeatures stainless braided brake lines & all new power brake system front and rear. Other upgrades included newu-joints in both drive shafts, all new suspension bushings, all new steering components, and all new fluidsthroughout. In addition, this is a rare factory equipped power steering model, and the factory box has beenremanufactured the fj40 is fitted with 17” atx slot simulated bead lock alloy wheels in satin black and goodyearwrangler mt/r + kevlar tires in a 35x12. 50 r17 size. The axles have 1. 5” wheel spacers to widen the track widthand make the stance look great interior was kept very authentic and original where possible. Interior upgradesinclude new door panels and hardware, reclining mastercraft baja seats, tuffy center console with stereoprovisions, new shoulder belts, bed liner floors, & weather tech rubber floor liners. In addition the hard top wasfitted with a new headliner. Body upgrades include sheet metal repairs and replacement on the back ½ of the tub aswell as the back of the frame. New factory toyota lighting and emblems were used. New mirrors & truck light ledheadlights with high low beams were installed. Piaa multi-function front off road lighting is mounted to an arbfront winch bumper (no winch yet, but will accommodate a warn 8274). Many parts on this build are the besetcondition original toyota parts we could find and the time. This is a very nicely restored and modified fj40 thatis ready to drive. Truck has a current virginia safety inspection, and is road worthy. The truck had a professionalfront end alignment upon completion, this truck stops, steers, and drives great. A clear virginia title andmatching factory vin number on body and on frame. Receipts are available for all work performed with details forthe new owner. I am sure i am leaving some details of this restoration out, there has been so much work done tothis truck. As with any old car, there is certainly more that can or could have been done. Alloy Wheels

This truck is ready for a car show or armageddon. For me she has been living the easy life. Driving around townfor lunch a few trips camping and the occasional car show. Mechanically here's a short list of things that have been done. New old man emu suspension front and rearnew arb compressor with front and rear differential lockersthe rear axle is floating hd axle which is very rare to find on these truck. This axle was completely disassembledand new bearings seals and shafts where installed. The front axle had the same work done as the rear completely disassembled and all worn parts replaced including 4wheel drive hubs. The power brakes are all new including the master cylinder. It has disk in the front and drum in the rear. The 16 inch rims are one off custom built to give the rim the 16 inch split rim original look but with much betterperformance. The rims are fitted with new bf goodrich mud-terrain t/a km2the headlights are upgraded to halogen lamps with a vintage lamp assembly to give the truck a more authentic lookbut high light performance. The stereo system is a new custom vintage hidden system that fits the vintage look of the interior with modernfeatures. The switch panel is configured to control the arb compressor and front and rear locker, led dome lights, fog lightsand winch in/outthe heater system is a vintage air heater with billet controls. The controller runs defrost and floor heat verywell. The body is in great condition. I had it painted a year ago and at that time all the door seals, window rubbergaskets and window felt was replaced. All emblems where replaced with nos one that i found available. The doorsclose with no problems. The main problem for me with it is the fit and finish is maybe a little to good for a offroad truck like this and makes me nervous to take her into the woods. The interior seats and door panels are in great condition no tears or excessive wear. The engine runs exactly as it should. I never have had a starting problem and drove this truck over 300 miles inone day many of times. It gets regular oil changes and is pampered. This truck will be a great truck for its next owner. The mechanical is in order. As all 40 year old trucks there will be itemsthat could be addressed but this one is a really strong driver that will show and impress.
