The early alfa convertibles, the giulietta’s of the 50's and early 60's , have moved strongly upmarket….. They are now fetching $60k – $80k. The next generation, the duetto’s and boat-tail spider’s from 1966 to 1969 ……are now commanding $40k -55k. These 70’s alfa’s are next in line for significant movement. This car was a very solid ca car driven sparingly by the former owner and was used for the basis of this mild restoration. The miles are now approximately 64, 300 --- almost impossible to find a comparable car. A great alfa shop in burbank (alfa italia) refreshed all the mechanicals, a proper spica injection rebuild, overhauled the brakes and then had the car painted and a proper new interior and top installed. This car is very special: (1) rare color combination of black with red interior (2) extremely low miles (3) a california carthis is an immensely rewarding car to drive and now might be the time to acquire one……. This generation is anticipated to appreciate smartly, and this example more so because of the low miles and much sought after color combination.

For sale a rare opportunity to own the oldest know giulietta spider race car and an entry to this year’s2017 monterey pre-reunion and rolex monterey motorsports reunion (scramp approval required) and based on timing of sale 1956 alfa romeo giulietta 750 spider - oldest know giulietta spider race car in existencechassis number ar1495 – 00163 163 as its referred to, is a historic alfa romeo giulietta 750 spider that was the 163rd off the production line and is the oldest known giulietta spider still racing. It is listed as the seventh oldest overall. It was campaigned for many years in scca competition before it was restored to vintage racing specification in 1990 by scca national champion, al leake. Christened “il postino” by al in honor of the owner at that time, rick beress. Rick acquired the car in 1974 and it had previously been raced since the 1950’s. Rick raced the car in scca and then in vintage races until he retired and sold it to the current owner, michael vogel in 2009. The car is equipped with a headrest fairing duplicated from the 1956 sebring version. This configuration was raced at the sacramento road races in 1956. I will have the motor rebuilt as part of the deal depending on price. Alfa romeo giulietta race history in the summer of 1955 alfa introduced the “spider” open roadster featuring an all-aluminum block twin overhead cam engine. Soon after, in 1956, alfa introduced the veloce version featuring the higher compression, hotter cams, and twin weber carburetors. Many distinguished drivers including carroll shelby, phil hill, and bill pollack campaigned the alfa spiders successfully over the next few years. Alfa romeo was present at the birth of sports car competition in the in the united states and remains a staple of vintage racing throughout the world. Additional parts and misc. One extra set of panasport race wheels and tires· one additional close ratio transmission· many miscellaneous spare parts for race day available at additional cost there is a complete rebuilt race motor built by terry tinney and never run a 1956 giulietta motor that is the same sequence as the car. Its (it) is complete and ready for a rebuild or to keep with the car as the original motor. I don’t know if this was the original motor but it came off the assembly line at the same sequence, it was the 185th motor built and the car was the 163rd car built.
